Bonjour,
Joe left the house before 4:00 this morning. He took the vehicle to the mechanic so that they can work on the brakes while Joe is gone. The mechanic took Joe to the bus station. Joe got on a public transport van and rode five hours to Kumasi. When he got to Kumasi, he had to wait five hours before the bus filled up to go to Wa. For five hours, he got to listen to them chant, “Wa, Wa, Wa, Air conditioned, Obama, Obama.” He wasn’t sure why they threw the Obama part in there. Usually, they just fill every seat before leaving. But for this trip, they filled the aisle and all luggage compartments before leaving. Joe said that they had little stools for the people in the aisle to sit on. They drove through a thunder storm. The bus was shaking back and forth, and people were puking. He arrived in Wa a little after 10:00 this evening. He had a long day!!
I decided not to do school today. I had plenty to keep me busy. The kids were helping Francis gather wood for the weany roast tomorow. Joe hired a girl to come help me with the cleaning for a few days. The Aarons are coming on Monday. So, the guest room downstairs needed to be cleaned. Bonnie was downstairs with Stella for a while. Bonnie came up and told me that the lady needed some water. She took some water down to her. A few minutes later, Bonnie came back and said, “I need a rag, Mom. That lady won’t share her rag with me.” Then, she came back to tell me that the lady wouldn’t share her bucket either. I gave her a bucket with some water in it, and she “cleaned” out on the porch while I worked on laundry. I got two loads of laundry out on the line; then, it poured down rain.
After naps, I worked on supper. After supper, the kids thought that popcorn sounded good. I made some popcorn. Then, I made Gilbert’s birthday cake and made a potato salad for tomorrow. The kids all enjoyed licking the batter bowl and the frosting bowl. I think Bonnie was wearing more of it than she ate.
Joe just called to let me know that he made it to the place where he is staying. I am sure that he will sleep well tonight.
A demain,
Joe, Laura, Gilbert, Danny, and Bonnie
