Missionary on Fire: Fire Built on the Mission Field

Published April 2026

Twelve true stories from the lives of veteran missionaries — men like Frank Drown, Don Sisk, and Rick Martin, who gave decades to the Gospel in some of the hardest places on earth and stayed faithful. This book exists because those stories were disappearing, and they deserved to be written down.

That’s My Goat: And Other Missionary Stories

Published August 2025

Real stories from more than two decades of missionary life in Ivory Coast and Ghana. Some are funny. Some are hard. A few are both at the same time. All of them come from actual days on the field, and all of them point to the same thing — God is faithful, even when the goat is gone.

About These Books

These books come from a simple conviction: missionary stories are worth telling carefully, and they’re worth keeping. A good missionary story doesn’t just entertain. It puts a face on the Great Commission. It gives a church something to pray toward and a young person something to aim for.

That’s My Goat is the personal one — stories from our own years in West Africa that I had been carrying around for a long time before I finally wrote them down. Missionary on Fire came out of the interview project, which started because I kept meeting older missionaries whose stories were fading out of memory. Frank Drown was in Ecuador when Jim Elliot and Nate Saint were killed. He discovered their bodies. Don Sisk built churches in Japan and then spent nearly two decades leading BIMI. These men’s lives are worth more than a paragraph in a bulletin.

Both books are available in paperback, Kindle, hardback, and audiobook. They work well for personal reading, family devotions, church book tables, and missions conferences. If you want to put a good missionary story in someone’s hands, either of these will do the job.
