W’apow mu e,
Joe headed to the dentist this morning only to find out that the dentist’s office is closed until Thursday. Today marked one week since the death of the President of Ghana. No one told us that everyone was wearing black today because of that and that there would be memorial parades in town. Joe got stuck in the middle of that. Meanwhile, he found a new pizza place and brought pizza home for lunch.
Sammy brought another boy with him today. They played for a couple hours. Then, I sent Sammy and Ebenezer home so that the kids could get their chores done. They are never too thrilled to hear the word “chores.”
After naps, Joe was working on replacing light bulbs outside. A bird had made its nest in one of the light sockets. The kids found a box to put the baby birds in. Two of the birds flew away, and three were still in the box when they checked on them last.
It was cloudy and cool today. All of the kids have coughs and colds; so, we did not swim today.
The sport of the day today was volleyball. They were hitting a ball back and forth over the Badminton net. That is just about the right height for the kids. Gilbert said that he scored four points, and Danny and Bonnie both scored three points. I was inside working on supper, but I watched them from the window. Joe and LF played with them. Joe sent Danny to put the ball away and lock the door. He told Danny to bring the keys back to him. When Danny got about twenty yards from Joe, he decided that he would throw the keys to Daddy. The only problem was that Daddy was not looking at Danny and did not know that the keys were on their way to him until they hit him right on the nose. He has three gashes on his nose, and his nose is a bit swollen. He will be looking good for the wedding in which he will be preaching on Saturday! Danny felt bad about it. He thought that Dad could catch anything, even if he didn’t know something had been thrown.
Gilbert has been working on drawing planets and rockets and cutting them out. Danny made a necklace, a crown, and a headband on paper for me. Then, he asked me how to spell “princess.” I told him the whole word at once, and he kept coming back to get it right. Once he finally got the whole word written correctly, he brought me the piece of paper to go with my drawings. Then, he wanted to know how to spell “king.” He drew a crown for Joe with “king” written underneath it. Bonnie was busy instructing her imaginary students.
Nantsew yie!
