Bonjour,
This morning, Joe and Charlie went into town to run some errands. Joe showed Charlie places to buy things in bulk. The business owners were all happy to see Joe. He said that one lady came out of her shop and danced around saying, “Pastor Joe, Pastor Joe.” They also got our gas bottle refilled; it ran out while I was cooking supper last night. He recharged the electric card. The electricity is now on a pre-pay system. Each person has a card that goes inside the meter. You take the card to the electric company to pay and have the card recharged. When the meter is about to run out of money, the power goes off, and the meter beeps to give you a warning. That happened about 5:30 this morning. The boys have been up ever since.
We did school this morning. We just did pages because the one phase of the electricity was still out. The power went completely off for about an hour so that the phase problem could be fixed. Then, all the phases came back on.
The kids went up to the Luthers’ house to play while I got lunch ready. Miss April walked them home. They had told the kids that they could come back at 3:00 to play again. Gilbert could hardly take a nap because he thought he would miss 3:00.
I haven’t been feeling very well today. This cold or sinus infection is about to do me in. I was definitely ready for nap time. Joe brought medicine home for me, Bonnie, and Danny. We all started on antibioitic; this cold seems to be hanging on.
The Luthers had a second washing machine that needed to be repaired. Joe went up there and got that going this afternoon. They are going to let us borrow one of their machines.
We went to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church tonight. The pastor was sick and had asked Joe to preach. Joe did a good job. He started the sermon off with a snake story. He had Gilbert’s undivided attention. Danny listened for a minute; then, he was back to asking me about John the Baptist being beheaded. He has been asking lots of questions about John the Baptist lately. He asked me how he died, and he just can’t get over the fact that they cut his head off. “Who did that, Mom? They weren’t good people, were they, Mom?”
Gilbert has been asking questions about getting saved. The other day, we were talking about a little two-year-old girl who had died. The boys wanted to know if she went to heaven. I said that she wasn’t old enough to understand about getting saved and that Jesus took her to Heaven. A little while later, Gilbert asked, “Am I old enough to understand?” On the way home from church, he told Daddy that he wanted to talk about getting saved. We are still talking to him. We want to make sure he understands.
When we got home, we loaded up the washing machine and brought it down to the house. There isn’t a dryer, just clothes lines. So, we will get started on the laundry in the morning.
A demain,
Joe, Laura, Gilbert, Danny, and Bonnie
