Bonjour,

Today the teachers from the school came out here for a picnic.  They played volleyball and soccer.  The kids stayed outside with them all morning.  We went down at lunch time and roasted hot dogs and had a picnic with them.
Joe took our vehicle to the mechanic this morning to get the back brake shoes replaced and get the air conditioner recharged.  They got the brakes done.  When they took it to the air conditioner people, they found a leak.  They had looked for the leak before but could not find it.  In trying to weld the pipe that was leaking, they melted some other part.  We are praying that they get it fixed tomorrow because we are supposed to leave for Accra early Monday morning.  They said it would be done by noon tomorrow, but that does not always mean anything in Africa!
I made some cookies this morning.  The kids helped me make sugar cookies the other night.  I made two other kinds today – cream wafers and chocolate chip.  We took some down to the teachers for their picnic.
The children thought that they did not need a nap.  But, they all slept for quite a while.  Playing out in the sun all morning did them in.
Joe went to check on the vehicle this afternoon.  Then, he took the kids up to help him drain the pool.  It needs to be painted during the dry season so that it has plenty of time to dry.  Bonnie tripped beside the pool and fell in head first.  Danny jumped in and rescued her.
After supper, I did some addition and subtraction flashcards with Gilbert.  Danny wanted to do some too; they have just started addition.  Then, Danny got some word flashcards out.  Bonnie took the letter magnets off of the refrigerator, and the magnets were her students.  She comes up with some great things to use as her students – shoes, crayons, pretzels, and now magnets.
The electric phase that controls the fans and lights in the bedrooms and the AC in our bedroom went off this evening; maybe it will come back on tomorrow.  Gilbert thought it was "scary" to take a bath by candle light; Danny thought it was great.  They all went to bed with a glow stick.  As I was tucking the kids in, Danny was singing "This little light of mine…" with his glow stick.
A demain,
Joe, Laura, Gilbert, Danny, and Bonnie
