S ome of the most valuable lessons during a missionary internship in Ghana do not happen during large events or dramatic moments. They happen quietly on ordinary mornings when ministry simply needs to get done.
That Sunday began like many others. However, as the day unfolded, it became another reminder that the mission field trains servants through everyday responsibilities.
Beginning the Day on the Mission Field
The morning started early at 7:20. First came Bible reading, which always sets the tone for the day.
Soon after, a message came from Mrs. Ruckman saying breakfast was ready downstairs.
Small Moments That Shape a Missionary
Those quiet moments around a breakfast table often become part of the training during a missionary internship in Ghana.
Mission work rarely begins on a stage. Instead, it usually starts around kitchens, living rooms, and conversations with fellow laborers.
“Missionary training often happens in ordinary moments long before anyone steps behind a pulpit.”
Preparing the Church Before the Service
At 8:40 we left for church. Sundays on the mission field begin long before the congregation arrives.
When we entered the building, the sound system was not working correctly. Several cords were connected to the wrong places.
Learning Through Responsibility
Fortunately, I had taken pictures earlier when everything was set up properly.
Those pictures made it possible to reconnect everything correctly and restore the sound system before the service began.
That moment captured something important about a missionary internship in Ghana. The work often involves practical problem-solving rather than dramatic ministry scenes.
Someone simply has to fix what is broken.
Worship That Comes From the Heart
Soon the service began, and the church filled with singing.
Everyone sang with joy and sincerity, lifting their voices together in worship.
A Church Family Celebrating Together
The music sounded clear through the newly repaired sound system. Bro. Ruckman later mentioned how well everything carried through the room.
Moments like that remind you why the small behind-the-scenes work matters.
Because when everything works properly, people can focus on worship instead of distractions.
Just after the invitation, the church shared a special moment together.
Some of the men presented Sammy and Annette with a wedding gift, celebrating their new beginning.
Soon the church gathered for group photos and joyful conversations.
The fellowship felt warm, sincere, and deeply connected.
This is often what ministry looks like during a missionary internship in Ghana—serving quietly while watching God build relationships inside a church family.
Just after the celebration, the day paused long enough to capture a few moments together.
Learning to Slow Down on the Mission Field
After everything finished at the church, we returned home.
For the first time in several days, the schedule slowed down.
A Rare Quiet Afternoon
The entire afternoon became a time of rest.
Busy weeks on the mission field often leave little room for quiet moments like this.
However, that evening we listened together to a Christ Is Conference message.
The teaching sparked thoughtful discussion and reflection.
Later, everyone gathered in the living room and talked for nearly an hour and a half.
There were laughs, stories, and the kind of fellowship that only comes from serving together.
“The mission field teaches you that ministry is not only work. It is also fellowship, laughter, and shared life.”
What a Missionary Internship in Ghana Really Teaches
As the day came to an end, the house slowly grew quiet.
The long week had finally caught up with everyone.
Preparing for Another Day
Soon it was time for a shower and a good night’s rest.
Mission work often requires energy for the next morning before the current day fully ends.
Yet this simple Sunday carried an important lesson.
The greatest preparation during a missionary internship in Ghana often happens through daily faithfulness.
Fixing cables. Serving meals. Singing together in church.
Those moments quietly shape future missionaries.

Glad you took pictures of the sound system. That was a smart move. It is hard to keep up with the sound system., everyone seems to know how to do that best. We had a good service this evening too. I enjoy Bro. Howe. Wearepraying for you! Have a great week!
Praise God for the Joy in their hearts and ours..for one day we will wear that crown. What a Glorious and wonderful Day. 🙌
