Bonjour,
Our internet was down all day yesterday, but it is back up and running today.
We had a good day at church yesterday. Kristine taught the 6 and under class during Sunday School, and I taught them during Junior Church. The guy who usually helps in there was sick. He came and translated the lesson into Fante and then sat outside for the rest of the time. There were seven kids for Sunday School and twenty-five for Junior Church in that age group. The younger children who haven't been to school yet don't speak much English, but we made it through.
One of the young men had led a man to the Lord this week. The man who got saved speaks only French and Fante. For the first half of Sunday school, Joe translated into French since there wasn't anyone there who needed to have the lesson translated into Fante. About halfway through the Sunday school hour, some that only speak Fante came. So, they switched to the Fante interpreter.
We came home and had lunch. We got a short rest in before Bible Club. When we went outside, no one was there. The Luthers gave their dog Cocoa, a German shepherd, to Kristine. Cocoa was chained at the corner of the house, and all of the Bible club kids were afraid of the dog. The boys had come earlier but left because they were afraid of the dog. Five girls came and stood just outside of the yard. We escorted them past the dog; then, they were okay. We may put the dog somewhere else next week so that more kids will come. We had a good time with those who came.
On Sunday night, the kids were all worn out. Danny is quite the wiggle worm when he is tired; he knows that if he stays still for a minute he will be asleep. Joe has been preaching about the fruits of the Spirit on Sunday nights. He was talking about temperance last night and explained that it meant self-restraint. He gave an illustration about fishing. He said that he would fish all of the time if he did not practice temperance. He was talking about having a fish on the line. Danny was back in his seat reeling one in too. Danny's fish was quite a fighter.
After church, Kristine ate supper with us. Then, she headed downstairs.
This morning, Joe got the guys started on digging out the swimming pool. The Luthers have an in-ground pool that was filled in with dirt. Charlie gave Joe permission to take the dirt out and use the pool while they are in the States for six months. The boys are very excited. They spent most of the day up there "helping." The guys got about half of it emptied today.
Then, Joe went to help Mack Siekbert. His vehicle had a dead battery; they took the battery to be charged. The Siekberts also bought a vehicle from a missionary who was leaving the country; it needed some work also. They went in search of a mechanic who works on Land Rovers. They found one. They towed the truck to the mechanic, and he was able to find the problem.
Bonnie and I sorted toys this morning. We dumped the toy box out and sorted through everything. We are going to put some of the toys that they have been playing with away to make room for the toys that they just brought back from Ivory Coast.
I also did some laundry. I didn't know if the rain would hold off or not, but it did. The dryer is down again. There is a flame where no flame should be. We will have to get the repairman back out to look at it.
Before supper, we walked up to look at the progress on the pool. Gilbert and Danny thought that they should be able to swim in it today. We tried to tell them that it will still be a little while before they will be able to swim in it.
We had pizza for supper. Gilbert ate more than he usually does. Kristine told him that he was going to grow a foot if he kept eating that way. He said, "Grow a foot? Then, I'll have three of them."
After supper, we watched a movie and ate popcorn. Danny fell asleep on the couch.
A demain,
Joe, Laura, Gilbert, Danny, and Bonnie
