Laura and I have two piles being built right now. One pile is labeled "coming home with us." The other pile is labeled "staying in Ghana." A French press has switched piles three times this week, and we still have not settled the argument.
There is a reason for all this sorting, and it is bigger news than a coffee maker.
We're Headed Back to Ghana in August
At the end of August, Laura and I are flying to Ghana for about ten days. Every year, missionary James Ruckman and Mount Calvary Fundamental Baptist Church host a Pastor's Conference, and pastors from all over West Africa come to be a part of it. The goal is simple: encourage the men, preach good preaching, enjoy real fellowship, and send them home ready to reach their own communities.
Last year, over 200 pastors showed up. We expect this year to be even bigger.

Preserving the Legacy of Faithful Missionaries
The Missionary on Fire podcast features interviews with veteran missionaries, classic sermons from the field, and stories of God’s faithfulness across generations. If you love the heart behind these stories, you will love the podcast. New episodes regularly.
Preaching, Packing, and a Provided Ticket
I have been asked to preach several times at this year's conference, and we could not be more excited about it. I have been saving toward the trip for months, and our home church just stepped up and paid for Laura's ticket. That is no small gift, and we do not take it lightly.
Here is where the packing piles come in. We are not shipping a container this trip. We can get almost everything we need for the field once we are there, so instead we are packing extra luggage full of supplies to leave behind in Ghana. That French press, by the way, is a necessity.
Deputation Keeps Rolling
While we get ready for Ghana, deputation has not slowed down one bit. We have been in 150 church services this year and have presented our ministry in 95 different churches. God has kept us plenty busy, and we are grateful for every open door.
We are about 65 percent of the way to full support, and our schedule between now and December is filling up fast. Our goal is to finish deputation and be in Ghana by January, and we believe that goal is within reach.
Would you pray for us as we finalize visas and travel arrangements for the trip there and back? And if you know a pastor or a church that has never had a missionary family come share, we would love an introduction.
