Bonjour,

This morning, Joe and the boys went into Anyama to run a couple
errands. They put fuel in the vehicle and stopped at the Anyama church
to pick up some things. While they were at the church, Danny fell and
scraped up his face by his eye. Joe asked him if he was okay. He said,
"Yes" between his tears.

At 11:15, we loaded up the vehicle to head to the picnic spot. The
Engelharts and Lenell rode with us. The road out to the place gets a
little rough. Joe didn't know if Bob's station wagon would make it on
that road or not. If it rains, the road is really bad. It sprinkled a
little on the way there, but the rain blew over. We had a very nice day.

Today is Lenell's birthday. They also celebrated my birthday today too;
it is next Thursday.

We really liked the new picnic spot. We barbecued hamburgers and
hotdogs. There was a nice volleyball net. After lunch, almost everyone
played volleyball for awhile. Gilbert and Danny played in the wading
pool. Different people took turns holding Bonnie until she got hungry.
After she ate, she slept for awhile in her playpen.

We had dessert. Jennifer Post had made a cheesecake. Margie made a
chocolate cake with caramel frosting. Both of them were delicious.
After cake, we opened presents. I got a big three-wick candle from
Tammy and Becky. I got another candle with a pretty holder and some
dish towels from Jennifer.

After that, some people played volleyball again. Danny fell asleep in
Lenell's lap, and Bonnie was asleep in Tammy's lap. Gilbert decided to
get back in the wading pool. Gilbert really wanted to play volleyball
and was disappointed that he was too little. I told him that he wasn't
quite big enough. Later, he told me that he wished he was "biggernuff."

We all left around 18:00. We went on in to Abidjan to pick up some
Vietnamese food for supper – egg rolls, deep fried shrimp, and rice.
Bob Engelhart was in rare form tonight; he kept us laughing on the way
into town and on the way home.

Lenell ate with us when we got home. Then, she headed across the
street. Everyone was ready for bed this evening.

A demain,

Joe, Laura, Gilbert, Danny, and Bonnie
