Bonjour,
This morning, Joe, Gilbert, and Danny headed to Abidjan. They were
going to meet Dan Post at the mechanic where Matt's vehicle is being
painted. Dan brought his trailer so that Joe could bring it home. We
are going to store all of our stuff at the Posts' house while we are
gone on furlough since we will be moving out there near them when we return.
Just as they pulled up in front of the mechanic's shop, our clutch fell
apart. The brand new piece that they just put on last week broke in
half. After they got out, they discovered that today is Mohammed's
birthday, and everything in Abidjan was closed, including the mechanic's
shop. They were able to find a mechanic, but they had to come back to
Anyama to get our old clutch part to put it on since the parts stores
were all closed today. Dan brought Joe and the boys out here. They
dropped the boys off and went on to get the parts. Then, they headed
back to Abidjan to fix our vehicle.
The power has been doing strange things since our storm yesterday
afternoon. We ran the generator yesterday and again this morning. It
was almost out of fuel. Joe had planned on only being gone a couple
hours and was going to bring fuel back when he came. With all that
happened with the clutch, he didn't get back until 16:00. He fired up
the generator and went to get fuel in Anyama. Just after he left, the
plug wiggled loose, and everything went off. I didn't know what the
problem was; so, I just waited until he got home. The power being off
for nine hours without the generator reminded me of our "load shedding"
days in Ghana. I am thankful that we haven't had that here! (In Ghana,
the power was off for twelve hours every other day.) We ran the
generator until 21:00. The electric company came and fixed the problem.

Everyone is feeling better. Danny and Bonnie have to go to the doctor
for a follow-up visit tomorrow.
The children and I walked down to the little store on the corner to get
a cold drink. Their power was working okay. Bob Engelhart went door to
door in our neigborhood to find out who was having the same problems
that we were. Just the houses on our block seemed to be having
fluctuation problems. The voltage was fluctuating from 100 volts to 350
volts.
A demain,
Joe, Laura, Gilbert, Danny, and Bonnie
