Bonjour,
Happy 4th of July!
Joe left the house a little after 5:00 this morning to head to the fish market to purchase the shrimp for our feast today. He paid for it and had the ladies start cleaning it. He ran some other errands and came back home.
Both boys were in my room before 6:00 this morning saying, “Do you know what day it is, Mommy? It is the fourth of July!!” They were so excited.
I made Dunkin Donuts for breakfast. Then, I started on lunch preparations. Kristine and I were in the kitchen most of the morning.
We were supposed to eat lunch at 1:00. At 11:00, I asked Joe at what point we should be concerned about not hearing about the shrimp yet. He called to check on it. A little after 12:00, the man called to say that the shrimp was ready. The Aarons got here just as Joe was getting ready to leave. He helped them carry their food in. Then, he and Andrew went to get the shrimp. We had the oil and batter ready when they got back. Joe did the frying, and I dipped them in the batter. We cooked lots of shrimp!! We didn’t finish cooking the shrimp until almost 2:00. The Siekberts got here about 1:40; so, it worked out fine.
We had plenty to eat and lots of fun and fellowship.

Patriotic punch – The kids have been waiting to make this. We froze red Kool-aid and blue Kool-aid in ice cube trays. Then, we made “invisible” Kool-aid and put the colored ice cubes in it.
The men and boys went swimming after lunch. It was a cloudy day and didn’t get above 80 degrees today. July 4 is one of our cooler days; Easter and Christmas are usually our hottest days.
The Siekberts left about 6:00. The Aarons are spending the night at the guest quarters at the Luthers’ house. We fellowshipped and played some games this evening. The kids have been going full steam all day. Danny fell asleep on the couch and then was back up ready to go again. I don’t think anyone will have any trouble falling asleep tonight. We had gotten some glow sticks in a package. The boys reminded me that I said we could use them on July 4. I got those out, and the kids had a blast with those.
A demain,
Joe, Laura, Gilbert, Danny, and Bonnie
