Bonjour!
Gilbert was looking for Daddy this morning. I told him that Daddy would be home today. He didn’t understand what that meant and kept looking for Daddy anyway.
Gilbert played nicely with Danny. When Danny dropped his toys, Gilbert picked them up for him. That depended on which toy Danny dropped; Gilbert had to play with some of them first before he gave them back to Danny.
Joe got back about 17:00. They had a problem with the trailer hitch. They came around a curve in the road, and someone had dug a ditch all the way across the road. Joe couldn’t stop because it was right there; so, they hit the ditch pretty hard. Joe got out to make sure everything was okay with the trailer. Everything looked fine.
They drove for awhile and saw a monkey on the side of the road. The Siekberts had a monkey that died while they were on furlough. So, Mack wanted to see how much they wanted for the monkey.
Joe checked on the trailer again. The hitch had fallen down several inches; two bolts were broken, and the hitch was just barely hanging there. There wasn’t a welder in that village. So, they drove slowly to the next village; there was no welder there. They found a welder in the next village.

When Joe hit the trailer release, the hitch just fell to pieces. The welder was able to get everything put back together again. Joe said that the Lord put that monkey there so that they would stop and that there was an angel holding that hitch together! Thank you for your prayers for their safety.
Just before they got home, the clutch started acting up. Joe will have that checked in the morning.
Gilbert was “helping” me make cookies. He wanted to see inside the bowl each time the mixer was on. He kept wanting a bite. After I got the dough mixed, he kept asking for chicken. I guess since the dough was white, it was chicken to him!
Danny has been making the rounds in his walker today. He was in the kitchen with Gilbert and me. Then, he found his way into the living room. He got stuck in between some of the furniture that didn’t fit in the last trailer load. There wasn’t anywhere else for him to go. So, he let us know about it. When Danny cries, Gilbert says, “Oh baby!” We have to go see what’s happening right away!
Gilbert was so happy to see Daddy. After Joe got the trailer parked, Gilbert rode with Joe to take Mack Siekbert home.
A demain,
Joe, Laura, Gilbert, and Danny
