Bonjour!

Joe took the vehicle back to the mechanic this morning. They replaced some

hoses and repaired the fan. Joe came home for lunch. Then, he took a taxi

back into town when the vehicle was ready.

We are back to our power-off schedule now. The power went off this evening

promptly at 6:00 and was off for twelve hours. That generator really makes

a big difference!

Bonjour!

It was a rainy day today. That is the most rain that we have had in a long

time. It rained off and on throughout the day. Gilbert’s new word today

was “Thunder!” except he doesn’t quite have the “th” sound down; it sounds

more like “tunder.”

The Wideners dropped their children off around 11:00. They had to go for

x-rays for their paperwork to stay in the country. We didn’t want the kids

to have to sit around at the doctor’s office all day. Gilbert had a great

time. He was up at 6:00 this morning. Around 16:00, he crashed on the

living room floor. Abby really wanted to wake him up. Gilbert was not too

comfortable on the floor. Joe asked him if he wanted to go to his bed. He

lifted his arms up to be carried to bed.

Stacey gave me a hair cut. We were going to have cake and ice cream first;

but since the birthday boy was asleep, I got my hair cut first. We had

supper and then cake and ice cream.

Before supper, Joe went to see if Gilbert would get up to eat. Gilbert

opened one eye and looked at Joe. Joe said, “Do you want to get up and

eat?” Gilbert said, “No no,” and went back to sleep. After we finished

eating, Gilbert decided he was ready to get up. After he ate his supper, we

brought the cake in.

When Gilbert saw the cake, he said, “Cake!” We sang to him. I was trying

to get him to blow the candles out. He kept saying, “Hot, hot!” He didn’t

want to get close enough to blow them out. I told him that it was like the

song, “Don’t let Satan blow it out.” As I was singing that to him, I blew

them out. Oh well, at least they got blown out.

Gilbert liked his bike. Joe lowered the seat, but Gilbert’s feet don’t

quite reach the pedals. So, Jonathan was pushing him around on his bike. One

of the girls took over on the pushing. Gilbert decided to hop down while

they were still pushing. In the process, he fell and ended up with a black

eye.

The Wideners gave Gilbert a police car. When it bumps into anything, the

siren goes off, the doors pop open, and the policemen start yelling. Gilbert

was imitating the siren, but he didn’t want to get very close to the car. If

it started heading toward him, he would run away from it.

Danny got passed from person to person all day. I didn’t even hear him make

a peep all morning. He was just happy to sit and make faces at the girls. He

took a nap in the afternoon. As soon as he got up, the girls were ready to

hold him again.

We had a good day. Everyone was tired and ready for bed this evening.

A demain,

Joe, Laura, Gilbert, and Danny
