Bonjour,

The kids did not have school today.  So, we went to the ocean to continue Joe's birthday celebration.
On the way there, we passed a sickly looking longhorn cow.  Gilbert said, "I'm like that longhorn cow; I'm a skinny Longhorn."  Then, he continued with, "Mom, do you know how animals know what to do?  It is their 'insects' that tell them what to do."  I said, Did you mean 'instincts'?"  He said, "Oh yes, they have instincts, and we have a mind."
When we got out of town, we were poking along behind a truck.  Danny said, "Dad, when are we going to go speed?"  When we got up to 50 mph, Danny said, "We are going speed now, Dad!"
Gilbert said, "Look, there's the hundred 'nacre' woods."  Needless to say, we smiled all the way there.  : )
With the Harmattan haze, the water felt quite a bit cooler today than it did when we went last month.  But, the kids did not seem to mind.  Danny took a pretty big hit with the waves a couple times, but he got right back out there again.
We walked down to a little French restaurant beside the ocean for lunch.  It is the restaurant where we saw the monkey last month when Nana and Papa were here.  The kids were all asking the waiter where the monkey was.  He said that the monkey had been naughty earlier and that it was hiding and would come out after a while.  Danny was disappointed because he wanted to see the monkey.  Bonnie said, "It's okay, Danny.  The monkey is fixing to come out when he changes his face."  Joe asked Bonnie if she has to change her face sometimes.  She suddenly became very thirsty and did not want to talk about that.
When the monkey did make an appearance, he went up in a tree.  There was a lady who was trying to sell bananas and peanuts who came over to us.  Gilbert wanted to buy a banana from her to see if he could entice the monkey out of the tree.  We bought a few bananas.  The lady saw that the kids wanted the monkey to come down.  She started antagonizing the monkey.  She was waving a piece of cloth at the monkey.  She held up a tiny little banana.  The monkey got upset with that lady.  He came down the tree, grabbed the biggest banana off of her tray, and went back up the tree.  Then, he started throwing the peels at the lady.  He came down out of the tree after that lady left.
We had some very good hamburgers for lunch.  Joe even had a bacon burger, although he had to wait a little longer for his.  The man got confused about the order and just brought two burgers out instead of three.  Joe got his plate when we were all done eating.
We walked back to the vehicle and then headed home.  The kids all fell asleep for a little while in the vehicle.  We went into town to renew our internet minutes for the month.  Then, we went home.  We got home at the same time that they normally get home from school every day.  The kids went up to play with the Luthers.
Joe finished waxing the car while I worked on supper.  The power went off just as we sat down for supper.  It is still off.  The power company said that it is regional load shedding; they have started doing this a couple nights a week, but we never know when it is going to be.  Joe had to take the car battery out of the vehicle to start the generator because the generator battery is not working.  Charlie had gone to Accra today.  So, after Joe got our generator going, he went up to the Luthers and got theirs going too.
A demain,
Joe, Laura, Gilbert, Danny, and Bonnie
