Bonjour,
Happy Valentines' Day!
We had cream puffs for breakfast. The children were not impressed, but Joe and I enjoyed them!
Joe took the kids to school. I worked on laundry this morning.
Joe took me out to eat for lunch. On our way into town, we saw a sign for Boerboel puppies for sale. (Their sign said Burabull, but we knew what they meant.) We have been looking for a puppy for a while. We called the number on the sign. They met us at a gas station, and we followed them home. The puppies were not full-blooded Boerboel. They were half Boerboel and half German shepherd. But, they were also half the price of a full-blooded Boerboel. They had some nice looking puppies. Joe told them we could come back after to lunch to pick one up.
We went to Planters Lodge for lunch. They even had red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting for dessert. I was impressed!!
After lunch, we stopped at the store. Then, we went to get the puppy. We put the puppy in a box so that we could surprise the kids with it. When we got to the school, the puppy had gotten car sick in the box. Joe had to take the dog out of the box and go rinse him off. In the process of doing that, Danny spotted the puppy. He had to stay with his class though. When the kids came out, Joe told them he had a surprise for them. Danny said, "Is it a puppy?" Gilbert held the puppy all the way home to keep it from getting sick; the puppy puked again just as we were pulling into the driveway.
The kids were so excited that they decided not to go play with the Luthers. After a few minutes, Gilbert decided he should go up to the Luthers' house to tell them "the news." He played up there for a while; the Luthers came back down with him to see the puppy.
We decided to name the puppy Thumper. The Ghanaians have a hard time pronouncing the "TH" sound; so, we wanted to name him something with a "TH" in it so that other people can't call the dog and lure him away. He is locked in on the porch for the time being. The kids have been out to check on him several times. They all wanted to take his food out. Gilbert decided that it would be his turn tonight. Thumper was not crying at all until we turned the porch light off; now, he is out there crying.
A demain,
Joe, Laura, Gilbert, Danny, and Bonnie
