New Book Announcement – Fellowship, Fried Steak, and Mission Stories from the Road

Big News: We Wrote a Book!
We had a great week on the road—some good food, good friends, good preaching. But the highlight as getting to share some big news: I’ve got a book coming out.
That’s right. After years of telling stories from the mission field—some hilarious, some terrifying, and some where I just plain got in trouble—I finally sat down and put them into a book. It’s called That’s My Goat – And Other Missionary Stories, and it’s full of misadventures, miracles, and the kind of missionary life we don’t always talk about on a Sunday morning.
We’ll be releasing it soon, and if you want to be the first to hear when it drops, you can sign up for our email list right here. You’ll also get our ministry news straight from the field—stories from Ghana, upcoming travels, prayer needs, and more.
Now, about this past weekend…
Supper with Brother Bob Ross
We had supper with Evangelist Bob Ross this week, and let me tell you—it was a good one. Brother Ross was my wife’s youth director back in the day, and he was also the Assistant Vice President of our Bible college about 30 years ago. He’s still preaching, still encouraging folks, and still sharp as ever.
He took us out to Diamond B’s Restaurant in Center, Texas, and if you’re anywhere near there, go. Don’t argue. Just go. It’s the kind of place where the waitresses know your name by your second visit, and where the chicken-fried steak has its own zip code.
We talked about ministry, family, and how some great memories from years ago. It was good fellowship with an old friend, and a reminder of just how faithful God has been through the years. You can check out more about Evangelist Robert A. Ross Jr. here—he’s still going strong and making a difference.
Preaching in Florien: Union Baptist Church and a Powerful Reminder
On Sunday, we made our way over to Florien, Louisiana, to visit Union Baptist Church, where Pastor Brad Thompson is faithfully serving.
I preached on what I believe is the greatest enemy to the Great Commission—the flesh. Like a baby alligator, the flesh will grow to destroy us. The service was sweet, the people were kind, and the Lord gave us a great time together.
After church, we had lunch with Pastor Brad Thompson and his family. He’s doing an incredible work in a small town that desperately needs truth. I’m thankful we got to spend time with them and see what God is doing there.
During our visit, I had a chance to share about the new book, That’s My Goat – And Other Missionary Stories. The stories in the book had people laughing, nodding, and maybe even blinking back a few tears. One lady said, “I think I know that black mamba story already!” Yep… It’s in there.
What’s This Book About Anyway?
This book is about real missionary life—snakes, flat tires, culture shock, divine appointments, and moments when God showed up in unexpected ways. If you’d like to stay in the loop and be the first to know when the book is released, sign up for our email list here.

Thanks again to Brother Ross for a great meal and a walk down memory lane. Thanks to Pastor Brad and Union Baptist for the warm welcome. And thank you to all of you who pray, give, and encourage our family as we get ready to return to Ghana.
We couldn’t do this without you.
And we wouldn’t want to.
