Bonjour,
This morning, Gilbert said that his stomach hurt. I think he was just trying to think of a reason to stay home. Then, Bonnie said that her stomach hurt; I thought she was just repeating Gilbert. But, Bonnie got sick at school. She had vomiting and diarrhea. I told her tonight that she would probably have to stay home tomorrow, and she cried, "I want to go to school." The boys were begging to stay home.
At school each day, they sing the Ghanaian national anthem. After they sang that this morning, Gilbert wanted to sing about his country. He asked if he could sing "My Country 'Tis of Thee." The teacher told him that he could. He was singing his little heart out, and some of the kids started laughing at him. The principal just happened to be passing by. He took all of the laughers to the office. Gilbert said that they came back sniffling and wiping their eyes. Gilbert was telling us several of the kids' names in his class. There is a girl named Sermon, and a boy named Silafoo. He said, "People just call Silafoo 'Junior.'" The monitors in Gilbert's classroom are all men. They call the men teachers "Sir" and then their name – Sir Valentine and Sir Spright. Danny did have two lady monitors in his class, but now there is one lady and one man, Madame Celia and Sir Francis. Tonight, Gilbert was singing all kinds of new songs to us that he has been learning from the DVD teacher. I had never heard some of them.
Bonnie said, "I have a boy named Abraham and a girl named Quaysee in my class." Danny started making up names after that.
While the boys were doing their homework tonight, Bonnie wanted a piece of paper. She was saying, "Madame, madame!" to me. Danny thought that was funny; so, he did it too.
Joe had a meeting with one of the church members this afternoon. It went much better than expected. Please continue to keep us in your prayers.
A demain,
Joe, Laura, Gilbert, Danny, and Bonnie
