Pre-Wedding Paint Job

This morning, I woke up at 7:20. I read my Bible and got ready for the day. Then, I did some reading in for the Bible Institute. No-one was downstairs at eight; so, I continued reading my book. I went downstairs for breakfast close to 8:30 A.M. We had egg sandwiches on homemade English muffins. It was really good.

After breakfast, Bro. Ruckman took me to the church. We got there a little before nine; but the gate was locked, and we did not have the keys; so I climbed over the fence and waited for Bro. Moses to get there. When he got there, he did not have keys either. He made a quick phone call, and we walked one mile roundtrip to get the keys.

Once we got back to the church, we got all of the supplies ready to start painting. We had several helpers, and we were able to get started quickly. We had to sand portions of the wall before we got started with the painting. After getting everything sanded, we started painting with the primer. We need to prime the walls so the paint will stick properly.

We got the wall primed and ready for painting. While the primer was drying, Bro. Moses and I started painting the letters on the gate.

After we had finished the gate, Bro. Ruckman came and picked me up. It was a little after one when Bro. Ruckman came. I was ready for lunch. 🙂 I cannot even remember what I had for lunch, but I remember it was good. 🙂 After lunch, I went and took a shower. I knew I had gotten sunburned, but I did not realize how bad it was. It is “paining” me, as the Ghanaians would say it.

After a quick shower, I took a much needed rest. We did not have any plans for the rest of the day; so, I edited some pictures for dad and took it easy. We did not have supper at our usual time because Bro. Ruckman wanted to eat KFC for supper with the couple who is getting married in just over a week. We had the food delivered; and after Bro. and Mrs. Ruckman had finished the last counseling session before the wedding, we ate supper. After we had eaten the main meal, Mrs. Angie brought out some fresh banana bread for dessert. (It was sooooo good.)

After I had finished up downstairs, I headed up to my room. I was able to call and talk to Mom and Bonnie for a little while, and now I am preparing to get in bed. Without a doubt, I should sleep very well tonight. I am almost falling asleep typing the blog. 🙂

  1. I feel your sunburn pain. It must be the fair skin you inherited from your mother.

The wall looks much better. One of the blessings is that every time you see that wall you will have the good feeling of remembering the time you gave to help get it painted. Giving of yourself is one of life’s greatest blessings.

  2. The walls in Guatemala are concrete like that and they are very hard to maintain. They get so nasty during rainy season. That is very hard work. Take care of that sunburn. Papaya seed oil is great for taking the burn out. It’s the enzymes. Maybe you can find some over there.
