Bonjour,
This morning, we all went to church. Gilbert was in rare form. He walked out the door of the house to meet the Nixons and went straight up to their oldest boy. He put his fists up and said, “Box!” Last night, Gilbert and I had watched an old boxing DVD that my dad had sent me. He wanted to try out some new techniques on that boy.
My Sunday school class went very well. We were down in number, but we had good class participation. They all remembered what I had taught last week. I was encouraged by that.
About halfway through my lesson, I heard a very familiar cry. I just figured that Gilbert had done something and his mom had given him a spanking, but that was not the case at all. Gilbert was trying to play with Danny during Sunday school, and he fell backwards off of the bench onto a concrete floor. Mrs. Davis took him outside. The floor was okay; and as soon as Gilbert discovered a toad outside of the classroom, he was okay too.
Gilbert sat all the way through church this morning. I only had to step outside with him once. He was doing very well until he “shot” his mother, and then she made a funny face. He got tickled and could not quit laughing. I had to get Laura to stop making that face.

At the end of the service at Mt. Calvary, they always sing, “Burdens are lifted at Calvary.” This morning, Gilbert sang along. “Bla bla bla bla CALVARY bla bla bla.” He sang the word, “Calvary” so clearly that it was funny.
Laura and the boys took a nice long nap this afternoon.
We had our first service at the new time today. During the sermon, Gilbert opened the Bible and was “preaching” right along with George. Everyone liked getting out of church while it was still light outside. Everyone except for us was home before dark.
We got home just as the lights went out. I just got all of the lamps lit when the power came back on. I waited a minute and then blew all of the lamps out. The lights promptly went back off. I lit all of the lamps again, and the power came back on. If the mule kicks you once, it is your fault… the old saying goes. I left all of the lamps lit this time; and sure enough, I was glad I did. The lights went off four different times. Finally, they came back on and have stayed on… knock on wood! Every time the lights would go out, Gilbert would say, “Uh-oh!” Then, when they would come on, he would dance and clap for joy.
A demain,
Joe, Laura, Gilbert, and Danny
