W'apow mu e,
After Joe took the kids to school this morning, he made orange marmalade. We have an orange tree in our yard, and it is full of oranges. The oranges here don't turn orange though; it doesn't get cold enough here to produce the sugar that makes them turn orange. It was the first attempt to make anything like that, and it turned out good. I had never had orange marmalade before. I wasn't quite sure about cooking the orange peels.
Just as I was getting ready to sew this morning, the power went off. Joe called the power company, and they said they were doing some work on the lines in our area. Just after Joe had started the generator, the school called to say that Bonnie had a bug bite on her hand that was quite swollen. We had planned to go into town to go grocery shopping anyway. So, we just stopped at the school first and gave Bonnie some medicine. We did some bulk shopping and grocery shopping; then, we headed back home. The power was still off. It came back on about 6:00 this evening.
Gilbert has been struggling with addition and subtraction. We have been working with flashcards. Joe found a song with the addition families, and they have been listening to that on their way to and from school. When they got to school this morning, Gilbert said, "Dad, I can't get that song out of my head! That's all that I can think about." After school, Gilbert was so excited to tell us that they had a math contest today. The person who answered the fastest got to stay at the front of the line, and the other person had to go to the back of the line. He said that on his first problem, he had to go to the back of the line. The second time that he got to the front, he stayed in that position for the rest of the game. He was so excited!

The kids played in the pool with the hose for a little while this afternoon. We are still waiting for the painter to come before we fill the pool up again.
After supper, the kids were playing with their cars. They started in the bedroom and moved the whole line of cars down the hallway into the living room one car at a time. They were quite proud of their accomplishment. By the time they made it to the living room with the cars, it was time to put them away to go to bed.
Nantsew yie!
