Bonjour,
The children were all ready for school this morning. They seem to be getting used to it now. They haven't been crying any more.
Joe and I went into town this morning to run some errands. We tried a restaurant that we hadn't tried before and were pleasantly surprised. We both had a steak and onion rings.
We had a package at the post office today. Usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays, packages can only be picked up in the afternoon. But, the men who work the package window were both there and went and ahead and gave us the package. One of our churches sent a big box of birthday party supplies; that was a nice surprise!
We surely see some strange things while driving on the roads in Africa. Today, there was a motorcycle with a man and a woman on it. They were riding down the center line between the two lanes of traffic. The woman, who was the passenger, was holding a cell phone up to the man's ear. We also saw two men riding two scooters down the center line. One man's scooter was not working; so, the other man was pushing the other man's scooter with his foot while steering his own scooter.
We brought our purchases home. Then, Joe headed to pick the kids up from school.
The kids were all telling me what they learned. They had a good day. Gilbert said, "Mom, the teacher had me read three numbers today, and I got them all right. Maybe we should work on the flashcards again tonight." Bonnie said that they talked about a car, not the cow like yesterday. (They are learning "C.") Danny said that he did blends and numbers and he didn't remember what else.
I have been practicing my clarinet. The kids wanted me to play some songs for them. I'm going to try to start playing my clarinet for the church services since we don't have a pianist.
Joe took the kids swimming. We had supper. Then, Joe had to go to the church for a meeting. Danny's homework folder got left in the car somehow. He watched for Joe all night; he was worried about not getting his homework done. That is a switch!
A demain,
Joe, Laura, Gilbert, Danny, and Bonnie
