Bonjour,
We are all doing well. We had a good day. Bonnie woke up at 6:00.
Gilbert and Danny came right in and wanted to hold her. She went back
to sleep about 8:00 and slept until after 1:00. Gilbert kept asking if
he could hold her. At first, I told him that he could hold her when she
woke up. When he saw that she might not be waking up any time soon, he
asked, "Can I just hold her while she is sleeping?'' So, both boys took
a turn holding her, and she stayed asleep.
The boys went swimming with Nana. After lunch, they were ready for a nap.
Joe went to the doctor to have his toe checked today. Joe thought that
the nail might be growing down again. But, the doctor said that it
looks good and seems to be healing fine. Joe is supposed to keep
cleaning it every 48 hours and continue wearing an open-toed shoe until
the toe is completely healed.
Joe also talked to the pediatrician that sees the boys. He took all of
Bonnie's x-rays and lab work. From looking at that, he said that she
had an infection due to not getting the fluid off of her lungs at
birth. He said that the proper treatment was given and that she should
not have any more problems. We are going to take Bonnie to him now. He
is very thorough in his explanations. We had thought of calling him
while we were in the hospital, but he used to work at that hospital, and
we didn't want to cause problems.
Joe went to church this evening. He took a picture of the baby.
Everyone wanted to keep the picture.
A demain,
Joe, Laura, Gilbert, Danny, Bonnie, and Nana

001 – 002 This was the first time that I got to see Bonnie. It was the
day after she was born. I could not get out of bed the first day due to
the c-section.
004 – The boys came for a visit. Gilbert was crying because he wanted
to go see the baby in her "box." It made me cry too watching him. Joe
decided to take him down to the nursery just to see if they would allow
Gilbert to look through the window. As soon as they saw Gilbert, they
snatched him from Joe and took Gilbert to the window. Then, they asked
where the other brother was. So, Danny got to go look through the
window too. They still wouldn't let Nana look through the window.
005 – Bonnie had just come out of the incubator.
006 – The first time that I got to hold Bonnie
007 – They brought Bonnie down to my hospital room just before we headed
home.

011 – The first time Daddy got to hold Bonnie
012 – When Bonnie wakes up, she is wide-eyed and alert.
