Bonjour,

All of the kids stayed home from school today.  Danny and Bonnie have both had a slight temperature, and all three of the kids are miserable with a bad cough and runny nose.  They felt better off and on throughout the day, but the fevers were back at bed time.  Joe and I are both feeling a little better today.  It is unusual that we were all down at the same time.
The power went off at 1:30 in the morning.  Bonnie woke up when it went off.  It took her forever to go back to sleep.  She had a fever and was tossing and turning.  She got in our bed; Joe moved out to his chair in the living room.  Neither one of us got much sleep.  Bonnie was thirsty; then, she tossed and turned again until she finally went back to sleep.
When the power came back on after being off for twelve hours, the voltage was still high.  I said that I was about ready to kill somebody at the power company.  Bonnie said, "Mom, it's not polite to say that."  About an hour later, workers from the power company came.  Tomorrow is a holiday here; we really did not think they would come today.  They worked on the problem.  The voltage is still a little higher than it should be, but they said that after peak usage tonight that it should come back down to 220.  We have been able to plug all of the appliances back in this evening; everything seems to be working fine.
Charlie Luther came back last night to get the rest of their stuff loaded up today.  Joe went up and helped him load his vehicle.  He has not been able to find a truck to load the rest of his stuff in.  He is hoping to find one tomorrow.  Since it is Ghanaian Independence Day tomorrow, he might have to wait until Wednesday.  Charlie ate lunch and supper with us today.
This afternoon, Joe spotted a rat in our yard.  The chase was on.  Some boys who were walking through the yard got in on the chase.  The rat went in a hole. Joe smoked it out of the hole.  Thumper got in on the action too.  The boys caught it by the tail after chasing it through the bush.  Joe came in to get the kids so that they could see the rat.  Gilbert, who always complains about taking naps, kept telling everyone that Daddy woke him up from his "best nap ever" to see a rat.
Joe went up to the church this evening for the Adult Learning to Read Program.  Dan is teaching the class.  Tonight was the first night that they had it.  One lady came tonight.
A demain,
Joe, Laura, Gilbert, Danny, and Bonnie
