Bonjour,
Our long rainy season seems to be coming to an end. It got very hot today.
The kids had a good day at school. Gilbert was excited that he could spell the spelling word that the teacher gave him to spell today. He said, "I didn't even have to think about it, Mom. It just came out of my head since we practiced last night."
I did some laundry this morning. Then, Joe and I went into town. We did some grocery shopping and then went out to lunch. Joe brought me home and then headed to pick the kids up from school. When they got home, he took the kids swimming. I worked on supper.
As I was getting supper ready and Joe was in the living room in his chair, Gilbert came rushing in the front door with a squirrel in his hand. It scared Joe at first because he didn't know what Gilbert had in his hand. Our guard was trying to catch the squirrel for supper. He had the squirrel by the tail, but it kept trying to go back in a hole. About that time, Danny ran up and stepped on the squirrel's head. Danny was so excited that he killed a squirrel. The guard cooked it for supper; he was going to have squirrel soup. He took the guts out, but other than that, he cooked the squirrel hair and all. Yuck! I asked Gilbert what the burning hair smelled like, and he said, "Smoke."
We had tacos – not squirrel soup! During supper, Bonnie said, "Mom, when I grow up, I'm going to be a cooker. Mom, when are you going to grow up?" She is a mess!
After supper, the boys did their homework. Bonnie got a coloring book out and said, "Mom, this is my homework? Am I doing it right?"
The boys have decided that they should mail some letters. They have been typing messages, and then they tell me what it says. I guess Gilbert decided that typing was not good enough. Gilbert got a letter ready yesterday, and I told him that we mailed it at the post office today. (He told me what to write.) He wanted to get another one ready tonight. Danny had to do two tonight since he didn't get one ready last night. Bonnie didn't pick up on it yet.
A demain,
Joe, Laura, Gilbert, Danny, and Bonnie
