Bonjour,

This morning, we all went to Abidjan.  Gilbert was excited to be going somewhere.  When we were getting ready, he asked if we were going to Anyama.  (That is the first time he has ever said the name of the town before.)  Joe told him that we were going to Abidjan.  So, he had to work on that word a little to get it down.

Gilbert knows the different landmarks that we pass.  He likes to drive next to the lagoon and count the boats.  He asked a couple times when we were going to see the water.  Then, he was looking out the window, and I heard him say, “I gotta be patient.”  We have told him to be patient, but I didn’t know if he knew what it meant.  I guess he does.

Danny fell asleep on the way into town.  Gilbert asked if we could wake Danny up so that he could look out the window.  He was concerned about Danny missing out on all of the great sights.

We went to a Lebanese store that carries some American products.    They have a little Mexican food section.  They had green chilies for the first time today.  We bought some little things of candy that had an airplane on top.  We didn’t realize that the airplane was a whistle.  Gilbert thought that was great!

Our next stop was the bulk food store.  The people who work there always like to see the boys.  Gilbert tells everyone, “Bonjour!”  He has also started asking them, “Ca va?” which means, “How are you?”

Our last stop was a little Lebanese pizza place.  We had some good pizza and then headed home.  We were trying to keep Danny awake on the way home so that he would take a nap after we got home.  We managed to keep him awake until just before we got home.  He played for awhile and then went down for a nap.  Gilbert and I took a nap too.  Joe got some things done in the office.

I went for a walk with Sarah and Margie.  Joe took the boys over to the Litsons’ house to play with the girls.

This evening, I folded some laundry and sorted some baby girl clothes that Sarah Litson gave me.  The boys were “helping” me.

A demain,

Joe, Laura, Gilbert, and Danny
