Bonjour,
This morning, Joe went to preach at the bank. He ran some other errands while he was in town. As he was on his way home, I called him on his phone. He said that he was on his way. Over an hour later, he got home. He got stopped by the police for talking on his cell phone. They got in our vehicle with him and took him to the police station. He found out today that it is illegal to talk on your cell phone while driving. They kept his car papers, and he is supposed to go to court on Monday to pay a fine and get his papers back. After they had gone to all the trouble of taking him to the police station, then the policeman tried to get a bribe. Joe took his name and said that he would be sure to let them know in court on Monday that the policeman asked for a bribe, which is also illegal. Joe might be able to take his receipt in to the station tomorrow, talk to them, and get his papers back. He can still drive with the receipt showing that the police station has his papers. Oh the joys of third-world countries!
The kids helped do some cleaning this morning. They played outside most of the morning. Bonnie came in to tell me that she had learned how to say pineapple in Fante. Later, she had me repeat the word after her, and she said, "Good job, Mom! You did it!"
Gilbert was "working" with a stick outside. He came in because there was something wrong with his hand – he had his first blister! Joe told him that was a sign of being a hard worker. He has complained about that blister all day. Tonight when he was going to bed, he said, "Mom, I'm glad I got this blister because it is a good scratcher for scratching things."
We told the kids at lunch time that we were going to go to Captain Hooks for supper. They were so excited! After naps, they went swimming. After swimming, they got ready to go eat. They kept asking if it was time to go yet. Kristine went with us. We all enjoyed our supper! While we were waiting for the food to come, the boys were playing "I Spy." Bonnie said, "Let's play a different game; it's called butter chili pepper." She said that you had to sing and count and take a drink. I told her that we could not sing in the restaurant. So, she said we could just count and take a drink, but when we tried to do that, it still wasn't right. We all got to take a drink eventually though; I think that was the object of her "game."
A demain,
Joe, Laura, Gilbert, Danny, and Bonnie
