Missions Conferences from Texas to New York

We had a great Easter Sunday at our home church in Center, Texas. It is always nice to be at home. Danny and Bonnie like it when their mom is at home, too, and all of us enjoyed being there.

We left on Wednesday morning after Easter to be in a missions conference in El Dorado, Arkansas, with Pastor JD Weido. We had so much fun at that church. They were having a special conference with Brother Mark Haynes, who has been a missionary to the Navajo Nation for more than 30 years. Brother Joel Haynes, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas, grew up on the Navajo reservation as a missionary kid, and he was the special speaker for the conference.

Then they also had two Navajo pastors who were saved and trained in the Hayneses’ ministry. It was like being on a missions trip to the Navajo right there in El Dorado. Brother JD Weido said he had a Native American missions conference and one strange missionary to Ghana. Yep, we are definitely unique.

A Busy Trip After Easter

We were in the conference from Wednesday to Friday, and we left after church on Friday night. The problem is that I am not a great scheduler. We drove until 3 a.m. on Saturday morning and got to Memphis, Tennessee. Then we got up and were back on the road before 8:30 that morning.

We drove all day Saturday and arrived in Buffalo, New York, at 3 a.m. on Sunday morning. It was a long push, but the Lord helped us, and we made it where we needed to be.

A Great Day in Little Valley and Buffalo

We had a great meeting in Little Valley, New York, with Grace Bible Baptist Church and Pastor Pete Guadagno. Pastor Pete is a high-energy individual. He is a blessing to be around, and he can lead music with a lot of passion. We enjoyed being with that church very much.

That night, we had church with the Evangelical Baptist Church in the inner city of Buffalo. Pastor Jim Donath is doing a great work there. He sure loves the Lord, and it was a blessing to be around him. It is always encouraging to see men faithfully serving the Lord in places where the gospel is so needed.

Missions Conference in West Seneca

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, we have been in a missions conference at Center Road Baptist Church in West Seneca, New York. Pastor Fundy Tores is the new pastor at this church, and he has been my friend for more than 30 years. What a blessing it has been to be around him and his family as he leads this church and works to make it a lighthouse for souls in that part of Buffalo.

It has also been fun to eat some wings, pizza, and Texas Red Hots while we have been here. Buffalo food is a real thing, and we have done our best to suffer through it.

We are thankful for the good churches the Lord has let us visit lately. It has been a blessing to be home in Texas, then head out again and see the Lord working in Arkansas and New York. Please pray for us as we keep traveling, keep presenting the burden for Ghana, and keep asking the Lord to help us as we move forward on deputation.

I went to Bible college with Mark Haynes. It’s a blessing to hear of fellow students who are still serving the Lord.
