Sunrise, Coffee & Blackstone Breakfast

The Navajo Mission Trip Work Day started before sunrise. I woke up at 5:30 a.m., did my devotions, grabbed some coffee, and joined the others for breakfast prep. Bro. Andrew, our youth pastor, cooked pancakes, sausage, and crispy hashbrowns on his trusty Blackstone. We ate fast—because the work day was about to begin.

Our Navajo Mission Trip Work Day Begins at the Church

By 9 a.m. we were at the church. Guys dug footer trenches for a new building; us girls scraped decades of flaky paint off door and window trim. My partner and I wore more grit than paint (small victory). After sandwiches we begged for more work and conquered one last stubborn door.

Getting Ready for Evening Service (While Still Sweaty)

Come evening, church ladies dished up Navajo tacos. I manned the meat station. A brother named Peter dead-panned, “I’m vegetarian.” I almost fainted—then he burst out laughing. Ice broken, fellowship sweet.

Worship, Work, and a Sunset to Remember

Our teen choir sang; Bro. Little preached about Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch. Hearts were stirred. Midway through a makeshift pool game afterward, we sprinted outside to witness a fiery desert sunset—God’s own encore.
