About the Consford Family
At the heart of Consfords.com is a simple truth: we are a family that loves Jesus and wants to make Him known around the world.
We’re the Consfords—a family from East Texas that has been called to serve through short-term missions, gospel outreach, church planting, and biblical discipleship. Whether it’s passing out gospel tracts at a truck stop or ministering to villages in Ghana, our goal is always the same: to glorify God and see souls saved.
Our family includes Joseph and Laura Consford and our children, Gilbert, Danny, and Bonnie, who each play a special role in our mission. We are not superhuman or flawless—we’re just a family doing our best to follow God’s call wherever it leads. Over the years, that calling has taken us into neighborhoods and nations, from backroads in Texas to bustling markets and remote churches in Africa.
Our journey into missions started with a burden for the lost and a simple desire to be used by God. Joseph, a longtime church member and entrepreneur, has a passion for clear biblical teaching and practical outreach. Laura is the faithful heart of our home, constantly encouraging others with her hospitality and gentle spirit. She is also the vice principle of the Christian School at our Church, Central Baptist Church. Together, we’ve made it our mission to show that ordinary people can do extraordinary things when they obey the Great Commission.
One of the most visible parts of our ministry is in Ghana, where we’ve been involved in church planting and supporting local believers. Joe and Laura were missionaries in Ivory Coast and Ghana from January 2001 until the summer of 2015. We’ve seen firsthand how the gospel transforms lives, not just in word, but in action. Whether it’s building churches, feeding the hungry, training pastors, or just listening to someone who’s never had a Bible, we are humbled that God lets us be part of His work.
Another big part of our mission is partnering with Bible Tracts Inc.—a wonderful organization providing free gospel tracts to anyone who wants to share their faith. We not only use BTI’s materials in our everyday outreach, but our family is also excited to have deeper involvement through internships and promotional support. In fact, our son Gilbert will be interning with Bible Tracts Inc. this summer (2025)! You can follow along with his journey on our blog.
But our mission doesn’t stop overseas. We believe outreach starts at home, which is why you’ll often find gospel tracts tucked in napkin holders at our coffee shop, Hardware on the Square, or hear us inviting someone to church at Central Baptist Church in Center, TX—a church with a heart for missions.
At the end of the day, we’re just the Consfords—regular people serving an extraordinary Savior. Whether you stumbled across our site by accident or came here on purpose, we’re glad you did. We invite you to pray for us, read our blog, support our work if the Lord leads, and maybe even join us in the field someday.
Let’s reach the world—one tract, one soul, one prayer at a time.
