This morning, I woke up, read my Bible, and got my bag packed. We were supposed to be going to Cape Coast for a missions conference today; but before we went, we were going to do a few things. After I had packed my bag, I went downstairs and had a piece of leftover pie for breakfast.
After breakfast, we got ready to go. We went out the door, and I went to open the gate. While opening the gate, I noticed the power lines were hanging a lot lower than usual. I looked up to where the lines connected and saw that they were not mounted to the wall anymore. They were still connected, but there was a lot of tension on the line. I stopped Bro. Ruckman, and he said, “Plans have changed.” We could not leave the house with the electric wires in this state. They were hanging very low over the road, and they were resting on our razor wire. Bro. Ruckman began calling everyone about the change of plans. To make that long story short, we did not end up getting to go to Cape Coast this afternoon.
Instead, Bro. Ruckman was able to get a lot of office work accomplished. I was able to get two hours of practice on my guitar in, and Mrs. Angie was able to work on her stuff for English class.
Once it was time for lunch, I ate some chicken salad and then did some things in my room. Those two hours of practice were off and on throughout the day. After a while, I went to help Bro. Ruckman with some things. We needed to spray for bugs around the house, and Bro. Ruckman wanted to work on a few of his plant projects. After this, I went back inside.
It had gotten very hot; so I turned the ac on in my room for about an hour. It was nice to get to enjoy sitting in my room with the ac. I did get a few more minutes of practice in while I was in there. Once I had finished in my room, I came downstairs.
We had leftover Thanksgiving food for supper. Mrs. Angie used my mom’s roll recipe; they were so good. It is weird though; the rolls and turkey are always better the next day, and they were. Supper was delicious. I only ate two rolls with turkey for supper.
While we ate, we wanted to watch a movie, but everything was working against us. First, the TV would not work; then, our power lines had to be disconnected to get the wiring problem fixed. We are currently sitting in the living room. We each have our own fan, and the Ruckmans are watching a movie on Bro. Ruckman’s phone. I am listening to the movie while typing the blog.
We are hoping to have power working in the next thirty minutes. Once we have power, I do not know what the plans are for the rest of the evening. It is currently 7:24 P.M.; so, the evening is still somewhat young.
One response to “An Unexpected Day of Rest ”
It is helpful to have plans for the unexpected. Africa changes plans quickly. Have a good day. Love you.
