Village Clinics, Real Needs, and Open Doors

Today took us outside the city and into a village in the town of Mahaplag, where we held a medical missions outreach.

There is a church in Mahaplag with a faithful ministry, even though the church building itself was destroyed by typhoons last year. Despite losing their building, the church continues to meet every week and remains active in the community. That faithfulness set the tone for the day.

Medical Outreach in Mahaplag

We held the medical outreach at a local community location in the village. Three doctors from the surrounding area volunteered their time to help, and by the end of the day we had more than 150 patients come through the clinic.

Many of the patients were dealing with severely high blood pressure and high blood sugar, yet showed no outward symptoms. For many people in this area, regular doctor visits and ongoing medication simply aren’t possible. Without the ability to pay for care or prescriptions, there is no way for them to manage these conditions on their own.

Preserving the Legacy of Faithful Missionaries

The Missionary on Fire podcast features interviews with veteran missionaries, classic sermons from the field, and stories of God’s faithfulness across generations. If you love the heart behind these stories, you will love the podcast. New episodes regularly.

Because of this outreach, we were able to provide medical evaluations and distribute needed medications at no cost. That alone made the long day worth it.

A Full Day of Patients

We saw a steady flow of patients throughout the day and were able to help many people with both treatment and medication. While we had originally planned to visit some local schools afterward, the medical clinic ran long, and those plans had to be postponed.

After wrapping up in Mahaplag, we returned to the hotel for a much-needed evening of rest.

Evening Fellowship

That night, we ate supper at a restaurant and then spent some time at the mall with several of the young people from the church. It was a relaxed way to end a full day—simple conversations, laughter, and time together.

We turned in for the night to get rest and prepare for another busy day ahead.
