Another American missionary has a Christian school in Takoradi.  They use the A Beka DVD Curriculum, which is the same curriculum we were using at home.  So, we decided to put the kids in that school this year.  It took some adjusting at first since they are the only white students in a student body of 250 students.  But after the first trimester, they felt right at home and were excited about going to school.  Danny was in K-5 this year, and Gilbert was in first grade.  They are on the trimester system here – in school for three months followed by a one-month break, in school for three months followed by a one-month break, in school for three months and out for a month before the next school year starts.
The program began with K-4 through 5th grade saying the pledges and singing some songs.  Then, each individual class showed some things that they had learned.
This is Bonnie before the program with some of her cohorts in crime.  Tafela, the girl in the white dress, is the one who went to the office with Bonnie several times.  The girl in the pink dress is Flora, another friend from her class.  George, a boy in Gilbert’s class, took advantage of the photo opportunity.
K-4 through 5th grade
They said the Lord’s prayer first.
Then, they sang some songs.
Because it was the night for K-5 graduation, they were the stars of the show and got to come up more than once to show some things that they had learned.
When they quoted Psalm 23, Danny was the shepherd.  He got to hold a lamb and pet it as they said Psalm 23.

(Bonnie told Danny that he looked like a pajama head in his costume.)
Gilbert’s class getting in position
Gilbert’s class quoted several passages of Scripture.
Gilbert quoted Matthew 22:36-39.
