Bonjour,

Joe took the kids to school this morning.  After I got some things done around the house, we went into town to do our bulk shopping.  We got butter, cheese, and chips at the first stop.  Then, we went down to the market circle to get sugar, milk powder, frozen chicken, and cleaning supplies.  We picked up some shawarmas for lunch and took them home.  (A shawarma is a Lebanese sandwich on pita bread.)
The kids had a good day at school.  They had the great idea to take their bikes up to the Luthers' house this afternoon.  That hill was a little steeper than they thought it was.  The boys had to push their bikes up the hill.  I set out with Bonnie, but her tires were flat.  Joe put air in her tires and took Bonnie's bike up there to her.  When it was time to come home, Joe told the boys to ride their bikes down the hill.  Danny came in the door saying, "Dad made me ride down the hill, and it made me go too fast."  Gilbert walked his bike down the hill.
I got most of the bulk things divided up and put away.  Then, I worked on supper.
Bonnie's class focuses on a new letter each week.  This week, their letter is "N."  She usually learns a name and an animal along with several clue words.  She was telling me that "N" stood for "Nicky Notwell."  I was trying to figure out what a "Notwell" was.  I asked her what it looked like.  She said, "Well, it has a big tooth."  I thought maybe it was a "night owl," but I didn't know why a night owl would have a big tooth unless it was its beak.   Joe figured out that she was talking about a narwhal.  She usually has all four of the clue words down pat.  She said, "The first clue word is 'nest.'  The second clue word is 'nest.' Oh no! Well, I can't remember the second one; so, we'll just have one clue word today, okay Mom?"
Gilbert's homework was weights and measurements.  We had to pull out some flashcards and do some reviewing.  I think he forgot to "lasso his mind" when the teacher was going over those!  : )
A demain,
Joe, Laura, Gilbert, Danny, and Bonnie
