This is Joe’s portion of the e-mail from Saturday.
This morning, we went to breakfast at 7:00. Dr. Vineyard gave us our orders for the day.
He had me see if the hotel staff would make copies for him and find a megaphone that we could purchase. I was able to get that done, and the hotel staff was very helpful.
We headed to Arromanches where there is a museum about the Artificial Port that they built for the d-day landings. Winston Churchill said, “Build it; don’t argue about it.”
Then, we went to the Battle of the Hedgerows. Bill Lair was there, and he remembered how dificult the fighting was there.
Then, we went to St. Lo for lunch. We had one of the best French lunches I have ever had.
We drove back to the hotel. I went by myself to run some errands. Then, we went to supper.
Tomorrow, the Jews arrive, and the real fun begins!
