We pulled back into our own driveway this week after a month that put a lot of miles behind us. God has been good, and several churches took us on for monthly support along the way…

Read our prayer letter below.

Feel free to print this letter and hand it to a friend, post it on your church bulletin board, or share it with your Sunday school class. We would love for as many people as possible to see what God is doing in Ghana, and you do not need our permission to pass it along.

A Van Built for the Road

The truck I had been using for deputation was a 2011 F350, a fine truck, but not exactly built for the road life we are living right now. This month, God gave us something better suited for the job, a Dodge cargo van we are turning into a small RV. It runs on gasoline instead of diesel, which makes a real difference at the pump these days, and it is proving to be a much better fit for the miles ahead.

A Second Birth at a Men’s Supper

Missionary on Fire Podcast

Preserving the Legacy of Faithful Missionaries

The Missionary on Fire podcast features interviews with veteran missionaries, classic sermons from the field, and stories of God’s faithfulness across generations. If you love the heart behind these stories, you will love the podcast. New episodes regularly.

I sat across the table from a young man at a men’s supper and gave him my testimony, then asked him for his. He stumbled through an answer before landing on the idea that he had probably been saved his whole life. I told him we all know the day we were born into this world, and we have proof of it. I asked what proof he had of ever being born the second time (John 3:3 puts it plainly). He said he needed to think about it. Two weeks later, he called to tell me he had been born again. He has since been baptized, found a good church, and is now faithful in attendance. That is fruit that lasts.

Getting Ready for the Ghana Pastors’ Conference

In a couple of days, Laura and I fly to Ghana. We will be there from August 20 through 31, and the Ghana pastors’ conference is from August 25 through 28, with a large group of pastors hungry to serve God in West Africa. We cannot wait to see what He does. We will be writing our daily blog, Consford Chronicles, the whole time, so that you can follow along.

Thank you for standing with us. Your prayers carry more weight than you know.

If you would like the full update in print, our monthly prayer letters are always posted at consfords.com/prayer-letters/. And if your church would like to have us come share this burden for West Africa in person, you can reach out any time at consfords.com/connect/.

Pray for us as we head to the Ghana pastors’ conference. Pray for safe travel, for open hearts among the pastors, and for the young man who is now walking faithfully with the Lord. We would love for you to share this update with someone who needs to hear it.
