Bonjour,

Today, Joe went to a funeral. Yapi is a teenager in the Anyama church.
His mother died. The funeral was held in her village. Joe took ten
people with him.

The actual burial was not scheduled to take place until this afternoon.
They got there this morning to greet everyone. Then, they waited until
the funeral began. Joe said that it was unique because the lady, her
husband, and the lady's mother and father were all from that village.
So, they took the body to the three households as part of the ceremony.

The actual burial took awhile because they had an argument about which
direction her head should face. Then, they had forgotten to bring rope
to lower the casket. So, they tied pieces of material together. Their
makeshift rope broke as the casket was being lowered. One man fell in
the grave. The people here are very superstitious.

The boys wanted to play baseball this morning. When Bonnie took her
nap, we went outside to play. We played baseball. Then, Danny wanted
to swing. So, I was pushing Danny on the swing and throwing the
baseball to Gilbert in between pushes.

After naps, the boys wanted me to go back outside with them. Just as I
got Bonnie in the pouch and headed out the door, Joe got home. He
played baseball with Gilbert while Bonnie and I pushed Danny on the
swing. Then, we went swimming.

The boys got haircuts this evening. Gilbert and Danny like to have
their hair cut. After Joe finished with the boys, Gilbert asked if it
was Bonnie's turn. After the children went to bed, I gave Joe a haircut.

A demain,

Joe, Laura, Gilbert, Danny, and Bonnie
