Bonjour,
Joe headed into town to go visiting this morning. The clutch went out
on his way in. He just had the clutch worked on Monday evening after
returning from Romeo's village. He sat at the mechanic's all morning
waiting on the vehicle. He got back home about 13:30.
When Danny woke up from his nap, he was burning up with fever. Joe
called the doctor and headed that way. On the way, the clutch went out
again. He was able to get back to the mechanic with no clutch. Then,
Bob Engelhart let Joe borrow his car to go into Abidjan. On their way
in the second time, the traffic on the main road was stopped because the
president was coming through. They finally got to the doctor's office.
The doctor ordered a blood test and found that Danny has malaria. His
platelet count is a little low. The doctor said that the fever will
probably come and go for the next 48 hours. If Danny still has a fever
on Friday night, he will have to go back on Saturday morning to be
hospitalized. Please pray for his speedy recovery.
Joe said that Danny didn't even cry when they took the blood. Danny
told me on the phone, "They put a belt on my arm." Gilbert wanted to
know where the belt was when Danny got home. Danny said, "They took it
off, Gilbert." as if Gilbert should have known that.

Bob Engelhart preached at Belleville for Joe tonight since Joe didn't
make it back in time for church. Romeo is in the village visiting his
family this week.
Danny's fever broke this evening, and he was playing with Gilbert like
normal. We will see how he does during the night; that is when the
fever tends to spike.
Bonnie has a runny nose and had a slight temperature this evening. I
think her problems are teething related.
A demain,
Joe, Laura, Gilbert, Danny, and Bonnie
