Bonjour,
Today is my 33rd birthday. Thank you for all of the cards, calls, and
e-mails that I received!
The Anyama church is having VBS today through Saturday. Joe preached
this morning. There were 130 children in attendance today. Joe is
going to take me out for lunch one day next week since things are a bit
hectic today and throughout the weekend.
When Gilbert woke up this morning, he told me, "Happy Birthday." Then,
right away, he said, "Where's the birthday, Mom? We need to eat it." I
told him that we would have to make a cake before we could eat it.
We are in the process of draining the pool. Somehow grass has grown up
through the bottom of the pool. It came through a foot of sand, a tarp,
and the pool liner. So, we are going to put a cement slab underneath
the pool instead of sand. I took the boys out to play in the pool for a
little bit while Bonnie was taking her morning nap. They thought it was
great to be able to stand up in the pool.

We came in to make pizza for lunch and to make a birthday cake. After
lunch, Gilbert helped me make the frosting for the cake; Danny was
asleep. It was a fudge frosting that requires a lot of stirring. He
would stir for awhile and then tell me that it was my turn to stir.
After we got the cake frosted, we went to take a nap. Danny woke up
before we did. Joe got him out of bed. Danny was playing nicely in the
living room. Joe got a phone call and went to the office to answer it.
When he came back out, Danny had discovered the cake on the dining room
table. He had a handful of cake in both hands. Joe just looked at him
for a minute. Joe said that Danny's head got lower and lower. Then, he
said, "I did it, Daddy."
Margie called and asked if I could come over around 6:00 with the kids.
I thought that Margie and Lenell had something up their sleeves. Joe
acted like he was going to stay at the house, but he wasn't too far
behind us. Lenell and Margie had a surprise party for me. They made
supper and a cake and had a big banner and balloons up. Gilbert and
Danny wanted a balloon right away, but they had to wait until after the
cake and presents.
It was a good birthday.
A demain,
Joe, Laura, Gilbert, Danny, and Bonnie
