In 1908, a missionary doctor in Newfoundland lost his sled, lost his supplies, and watched the ice break apart beneath his feet. He was sixty miles from anywhere, with a dying child waiting on the other end of the trip he never finished. The only thing standing between him and freezing to death was a knife and three dogs who had no idea what was about to happen to them.

I have spent the last several months living inside that story, and on August 1st, I get to hand it to you.
My new book is called The Dogs That Saved The Doctor. It is a retelling of Sir Wilfred Grenfell’s true survival ordeal on the ice. Grenfell was a medical missionary, sent across the ocean to serve the people of northern Newfoundland. On an Easter Sunday call to treat a sick child, the ice gave out under him. What happened next is the kind of story you would not believe if it were fiction. It happened anyway.
I could just publish the book and hope it finds readers. But I do not want to do this the normal way. I want to do it with you.
A Launch Crew, Not Just a Launch
I have started a private Facebook group for a small team of readers who want to help get this book into the world before anyone else even knows it exists. I am calling it the Launch Crew, and it will be our headquarters for the six weeks leading up to release day.
What I Am Asking For
I am not asking for money. I am asking for something harder to give: your honest feedback, and a promise to leave an Amazon review the day the book goes live, August 1st.
Missionary on Fire Podcast
Preserving the Legacy of Faithful Missionaries
The Missionary on Fire podcast features interviews with veteran missionaries, classic sermons from the field, and stories of God’s faithfulness across generations. If you love the heart behind these stories, you will love the podcast. New episodes regularly.
Early reviews are one of the biggest factors in whether Amazon’s algorithm puts this book in front of more readers or quietly buries it. A handful of honest reviews on day one can do more for this launch than almost anything I could do myself.
How to Join
If you want in, here is the direct link to request access to the group:

Facebook will ask you three quick entry questions when you request to join. Please answer them. That is how I know it is really you and not a bot trying to sneak into the group.
This book is hard to explain without sounding dramatic, so I will just say it plainly. Grenfell’s story is about a man who sacrificed everything he was counting on and had to trust God with what was left.
