A Long Night and a Busy Day

Last night just before my shower, our power was switched to low power. When the power does that, we have to shut everything off, or else it really messes things up. So I spent the entire night with only my trusty battery powered fan. I think I slept well, but I don’t feel it right now

After waking up a little after 7:00 A.M., I got ready for the day and headed downstairs. Thankfully, Bro. Ruckman turned the generator on, and I was able to get a cool shower after a long, hot night. Mrs. Angie taught English, and Bro. Ruckman and I got ready to go out and do some shopping for the late Valentines banquet. Shortly before we left, the power came back on; but while we were gone, the power went back to low power. A little after that, the entire area’s power was turned off.

Once Bro. Ruckman and I got back to the house, we turned the generator on before heading to the church to drop some things off. Once we got back to the house, we picked up the neighbor boy, Ransford, and headed back out to buy some wood for some projects around the house. Ransford was a great asset in the projects we did. After an hour or so of working on the stuff around the house, we were done for the day.

Once we had rested for a few minutes, I got a shower while the generator was still on and then headed down for supper. We had pizza for supper. After supper, the Ruckmans called their granddaughter who turned one today. As soon as they hung up, the generator ran out of gas. I am currently in my room lying on the floor because it is the only cool thing in the house. We are really hoping the power comes back on so that we can get a good night’s rest in.

Update: It came back on.

Second Update: It went back off.

Third Update: It came back on.

Pray for the power situation here in Ghana!

  1. The power is aggravating! I am sorry, but it is what missionaries face. It has been warm here today. A cold front is headed our way. It is funny that we turn the air on then the heat on, sometimes I the same day. We love you! .

  2. I have some memories of power problems in Africa. Some were fun memories and I remember laughing. Some were not fun at the moment, but I laugh now. Some I laughed and your mom did not laugh, but now we can laugh about them together.
