Second Sunday in Ghana

This morning, I woke up at 7:30. I got ready for church and headed down for breakfast. I had oatmeal and juice. It was very good. Once I had finished eating breakfast, we got all of our stuff gathered and left for church at 8:30 A.M.

When we arrived at church, the kids were everywhere, as usual. We started the Sunday school hour at 9:15 A.M. I was able to help one of the Sunday school teachers, Bro. Stephen, with his class. He thought I wanted to teach, but I was in no way prepared to teach. Instead, I sat at the back of the class and tried to make the kids behave. Bro. Arhin gave me the switch. I did not have any intention of using it. Once I had gotten to the class with the switch, Bro. Stephen took it from me and threatened the kids with it. I do not think anyone plans on using the switch, but just waiving it in front of the kids makes them behave:).

After the Sunday school hour, we all came back together in the auditorium. We sang a few songs; then the kids went to Junior church. I was able to listen to Bro. Ruckman’s sermon this morning. It was the first time hearing him preach since we arrived in Ghana.

After the service, we visited with some of the members for a while, then headed home for some lunch. We had chicken made in the instant pot, along with some vegetables. Once we had finished lunch, we all went our ways for an afternoon nap:).

Bro. Ruckman told me we were leaving at 4:45 P.M., so I set an alarm for 4:15 so I would have some time to get ready. I did wake up to the alarm, but I decided to shut my eyes for a few minutes. Well, long story short, Bro. Ruckman knocked on my door at 4:42. I guess, I slept a little longer than I wanted to:).

When we arrived at church, it was time for choir practice. There were a few guys in the choir that are still learning. I decided while they practiced, I would go outside and call my parents; they had just gotten out of church. I was able to speak to my parents and pastor for a few minutes. Then, I decided I would go inside and listen to the choir practice. After a few minutes of sitting there, I got closer to see if I could maybe join in. I sat in a chair, and they immediately had me singing. I told them I had experience singing bass; so the director had me start practicing. When he realized I could follow the notes, he began helping me get the right notes. We tried adding all the parts together, but the song needs more work.

We started the service around six. We sang songs, and Bro. Ruckman preached. It was a very good message. Two boys went to Bro. Arhin before the service and got saved. Then, after the service, a girl got saved. God is working!!! After the service we fellowshipped for a while, then headed home.

After arriving at home, I called my parents and siblings again. They were on their way to church, so we were able to talk for about twenty minutes. I then ate supper, and we are now watching a tv show. Tomorrow is our day off. We have had a busy week; so, we definitely need a break. I am really looking forward to a hot shower and a good night’s rest!!!
