Mission Trip to the Navajo Nation – Day One with Bible Tracts Inc.

✨ Kicking Off the Summer Internship at BTI

Yesterday, June 16th, marked the beginning of my eight-week internship with Bible Tracts Incorporated, a ministry that freely distributes printed Gospel tracts around the world. Our first major assignment? A mission trip to the Navajo Nation in New Mexico and Arizona, and we hit the ground running.

I arrived at BTI headquarters in Odel, Illinois, at 1:00 P.M., and immediately got started with a few different tasks. First, I packed a small bag for the one-week journey. After that, I helped stuff CDs into envelopes to be mailed out and assisted with restocking the tract shelves—preparing God’s Word for the road ahead.

🌾 Getting My Hands Dirty (In a Good Way)

With the early jobs completed, I got the chance to mow the BTI property. It felt good to serve in a practical way, missions is more than preaching—it’s showing up and helping wherever needed.

Once the mowing was done, the interns and I relaxed for a bit until Bro. Micah returned with the RV. Then it was time to load up: luggage, snacks, electric bikes, camera gear, and everything else needed for our weeklong mission.

Before we departed, Pastor Woodward shared a short devotional challenge. We prayed together, asking the Lord to guide us and prepare hearts on this journey.

🛻 Rolling Out: Snacks, Sam’s Club, and Supper

We pulled out around 5:00 P.M. but didn’t make it too far before stopping at Sam’s Club for extra snacks and food for breakfast and lunch. Our RV was officially full.

I drove my own car for the first four and a half hours to my Uncle and Aunt’s house in Missouri. I’ll need to leave straight for Texas for my cousin’s wedding right after we return from New Mexico, so it made sense to leave my vehicle there.

We ended up parking the RV at their home for the night so everyone could grab a quick shower and a few hours of sleep. My aunt had a spot already built at her house to park the RV and plug it into electricity.

☕ Day Two Begins: Onward to Kansas

We hit the road again around 7:00 A.M. After a quick nap and some road trip games, we arrived in Manhattan, Kansas to visit Harvest Baptist Church, pastored by Chris McCurry.

Pastor McCurry graciously welcomed us with a delicious lunch and offered a powerful biblical challenge to keep our hearts focused on Christ. We also received a brief tour of the church—a reminder of how many faithful churches are quietly doing the Lord’s work in their communities.

🌄 Destination: Navajo Nation Bound

As I write this, we’re back on the road, heading to New Mexico for the night. Tomorrow, Lord willing, we’ll finish the final three hours to reach the Navajo Reservation.

🙏 Reflection: More Than Just a Trip

This trip isn’t just about miles or checklists—it’s about ministry. Whether mowing a yard, packing tracts, or fellowshipping with pastors, it’s all about learning to serve Christ. I’m grateful to be part of this internship and to see how God uses willing hearts in both big and small ways.

Please pray for our team as we seek to share the Gospel with those on the Navajo Nation this week.
