Today, I woke up a little later than I have been. (We were up later last night.) We got up, ate breakfast, and were ready to start the day. We decided we were going to go with Bro. Prince and visit some old friends and some new friends.
First, we drove to Bro. Prince’s parents’ house. They were just as happy to see us as we were to see them. We had our picture made with them and talked with them for a few minutes.
Next, it was off to visit Bro. Prince’s wife and new baby. The baby is about one month old, and we all got to hold her for a few minutes, all except for Danny who stayed home, because there was not enough room in Bro. Prince’s taxi. The baby was so good. I don’t think we could have woken her up if we tried; oh wait, we did try:).
After our visits, we went to the mall. We found a few things to buy, and then we headed to Melcom, a local grocery. In the same building as Melcom, there is also a Pizza Hut. We ordered four pizzas because they were buy one get one free. While we waited for the food, we did some shopping in Melcom. Bro. Ruckman’s coffee maker broke; so, that was priority #1. I do not drink coffee, but everyone else does. Bro. Ruckman said by the end of the year, I will be drinking coffee.
So much has changed in ten years; the mall, KFC, and Pizza Hut are all welcome additions. Anaji Mart, a large grocery store in the neighborhood where the Ruckmans live, is also new. There used to be only one store here with a refrigerated section; now, there are five or six. We used to make a trip to Accra a couple times each year to get supplies, but you can get just about everything in Takoradi now. They have made great strides; now, they just need to focus on improving the roads. : )
After we finished shopping, we ate the pizzas. They were very good, not quite as good as American Pizza Huts, but they were good for Ghana. Once we had finished eating, Bro. Prince, Danny, Bonnie, and I went shopping for some material for shirts. We were able to get the material to the seamstress, and then we headed to the house.
When we got home, I started creating an image for Mrs. Jackie Siekbert, who was a missionary with her husband and family here in Ghana for many years. The little baby that we all held is named Martina Jacqueline. Bro. Prince and his wife named the baby after Mrs. Jackie. We sent pictures to Mrs. Jackie of each of us holding the baby. The first thing she said in her text was, “I am jealous.” So, we decided to surprise her and create a picture where she is holding the baby. I took a picture of Mom and cropped a picture of Mrs. Jackie’s head and was able to make it look like Mrs. Jackie was holding the baby. It only took me three hours. Hahaha
Now we are preparing to eat supper. Then, we are most likely going to fellowship a while, and then it will be time for bed.
Mom, Dad, Danny, and Bonnie will leave for Accra on Thursday. They will fly out of Accra on Friday. I will have Fante lessons on Thursday. We have a youth meeting on Friday night; I will be giving a ten-minute challenge. Bible Institute classes will begin on Saturday.
